Key-head Installation and Transfer
The first step in making the CGT key-head work for your two button remote is to simply swap out the guts from your existing key-head to the new one.
First you'll need to separate the key-head in order to gain access into the inside of the key-head. The key-head is made from plastic and can easily be damaged so to prevent damage please take your time and be patient. In my experience the best method is a thin knife such as a small Swiss army knife. Be careful and take precautions when doing this not to injure yourself when dividing the top from the bottom. They will separate like a clam shell the top being the button area and the crest being the bottom, use the knife to slowly wedge the top from the bottom as seen in photo. Once the key-head is open you should remove the remote & transmitter. After doing this you should remove the PILL (PILL is a very small glass "pill-shaped" item which allows your ignition to recognize the key, if you forget to install this item your car will not start). I would highly recommend laying out a white towel on a table when doing this so you can find it if it accidentally pops out.
Once you have done this you can start to pull the guts from your old key. In the same fashion as instructed to open the CGT key-head you can follow the same directions. The difference in this step is that you'll need to also remove the key itself from the key-head. You'll see a spring loaded mechanism located just to the side of the key (you can see this on the illustration showing the PILL, on the opposite side of the yellow arrow). Using the same utility or Swiss army knife you can slide and compress the spring to allow the key to be released (you will be depressing from the key side back to the top of the key-head). I would recommend having some assistance since these keys tend to get snug in there after some time. Once the key is out you can simply install it into the new key head. You'll need to approach the new key-head with the key at an angle (the side most resembling a triangle) first.
Remember to install the PILL and to align the buttons when installing the guts from your old key-head. Carefully ensure that the rubber seal is in place before closing the key-head. When you close the key-head you should hear a small click indicating that the seal is tight and is ready for action.
